Pacemaker assessment in the ambulant patient.
A new technique for assessing implanted cardiac pacemaker function in the ambulant patient has been introduced and assessed. A modified portable electrocardiograph recorder is used to store 24 hours of electrocardiograms along with marker pulses indicating the timing of pacemaker impulses. The recorder detects this narrow impulse and records a wider marker pulse on a second channel. The false p...
متن کاملMobiHealth: ambulant patient monitoring
The wide availability of high bandwidth public wireless networks as well as the miniaturisation of medical sensors and network access hardware allow the development of advanced ambulant patient monitoring systems. The MobiHealth project developed a complete system and service that allows the continuous monitoring of vital signals and their transmission to the health care institutes in real time...
متن کاملCalcaneus deformity in the ambulant patient with myelomeningocele.
We reviewed our experience of tibialis anterior transfer and anterior release for calcaneus deformity in 46 feet of 26 ambulant patients with myelomeningocele. At an average follow-up of 8.4 years (2 to 17.6) there were 89% who had satisfactory results; 64% of the patients having tibialis anterior transfers were able to stand on their toes. Hip abductor power was a good predictor of a functiona...
متن کاملContinuous fetal monitoring in the ambulant patient in labour.
Fetal heart rate was monitored continuously in 30 ambulant women in labour by radiotelemetry. The procedure was practicable and, since contractions were less uncomfortable with the patient standing or walking about, reduced the need for analgesia. It also resulted in a more natural labour. Use of the procedure may lessen the risk of thromboembolism.
متن کاملPatient and pacemaker survival after pacemaker implantation.
One hundred thirty patients have had 244 pacemakers of five types implanted at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in the past eight years. There has been I 0.50 probabilIty of successful unit function at only 12 months with epicardial units. All transvenous units used have had a 0.50 probabilIty of unit success at more than 17 months. This fact, combined with the lower frequency of early death wi...
